On 4th March, 1915 the 1st Bedfordshire battalion of 15 Brigade, 5th Division moved into the front line north of the canal at Ypres where they remained until relieved on 8th March. Edward Jacka was one of three men killed on 7th March, one of whom lost his life when Battalion HQ was shelled and when there was heavy sniping throughout the day. |
